FOOD

At SAOL Café we understand food and understand our customer’s needs.

Food is fuel and food impacts focus. What students and staff eat during the day, through breakfast, lunch and snacks impacts their concentration and academic performance.

All of our meats are prepared and cooked in our central production kitchen right here in Galway. Our homemade soup, sausage rolls, quiches and salads are handmade by our experienced kitchen team.

All of our bakery products are made by our pastry chef Martina in our sister restaurant Ground & Co in Salthill.

SUSTAINABILITY

SAOL Café provides compostable packaging and our takeaway coffee cups are branded and 100% compostable. We sell ‘Keep Cups’ in SAOL Café and encourage our customers to bring their own cups by offering a .20cent discount for each purchase. In addition, if a keep cup is purchased at SAOL Café we will even give you the first beverage complimentary.

We work closely with our waste provider to reduce our landfill waste each month.

It is our ambition by summer 2019 that we will be 100% plastic free.

SOCIAL INCLUSION

At SAOL Café it is important that every member of our team feels comfortable and that they can be themselves at work. Working with fantastic agencies like Employability we take our time in finding the right people to join our team. We have developed a structured training plan at SAOL Café to ensure that every person is given the best chance to succeed. Our policy is that everyone’s voice is important and we have created an open and effective communication environment for our employees.

CUSTOMERS

SAOL Café is located in the Institute for Lifecourse and Society (ILAS) in the north campus of NUI Galway. We are a stone’s throw away from the Park and Ride Car park and would be an ideal stop to get your morning coffee to start the day. We are across the road from the lovely people in the Biosciences Building and have already quite a few familiar faces from there. Our lovely students from Corrib Village and Goldchrest student accommodation are familiar faces.

Frequent visitors to the café are the hardworking staff from the IDA Business Park in Dangan.

SAOL Café is also open to the public and everyone is welcome.

New Beginnings
